Meet Attorney Kirk Smith

Hello. I hope you're doing well despite whatever challenges you might be facing. My name is Kirk Smith. I’ve been practicing law in Arizona since 2002. I was born and raised in Iowa and received my juris doctorate from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa, in May of 2001. I moved to Arizona soon after graduating law school and have been living here since.

My first job as an attorney was at the Public Defender's Office in Mohave County. Afterwards, I worked at the Maricopa County Prosecutor’s Office in Trial Group F. At both locations, I received a good deal of trial experience.

In June of 2013, I started Olympus Law in Chandler, Arizona. My office has remained open to the present day, providing professional family law and criminal defense representation.

In criminal law I've seen things from both sides, having worked as a prosecutor and now a defense attorney. I’ve handled such obscure cases as depositing a Bomb (Dangerous), all the way to garden variety DUIs. Under the “My Firm” section of this website, you can see a list, which is not exhaustive, but gives of the types of cases I have handled as a licensed attorney for over 20 years. I’ve completed approximately 52 jury felony trials from trespass to homicide, and countless bench trials and evidentiary hearings.

Divorce and custody battles can be miserable especially if the other side isn't playing fair. Too often, the parties to a divorce or custody case are driven by fear, anger, and a desire to destroy each other. I focus on finding a positive outcome for my clients through negotiation and settlement; however, if necessary I am a strong advocate at trial.

"Winning” is certainly the goal if one can call the word applicable in a criminal defense or divorce case. More importantly; however, I care about outcomes for my clients’ sake. As a professional, I  strive to be thorough, goal oriented, and compassionate. I hope this gives you some insight into who I am, and I look forward to meeting you.
